Among the central themes of forensic linguistics are author identification and author profiling. Besides incriminated texts like blackmail letters and confession letters, where the identities of the writers often are obfuscated, the recognition of identities in the various forms of internet communication like chat messages or twitter posts presents special challenges. The workshop concentrates on the question by which linguistic characteristics an author may be recognized or profiled. Also the possibilities of automatic recognition will be a topic. A further focus will be on the question of how massive amounts of data may be scanned automatically in order to detect potential dangers. Traceable methods, which allow judgments on the degree of validity of their results, are of special interest.
