Yuchen Xiong has been strengthening our team as a research associate since July 1, 2026. Yuchen completed her bachelor’s degree (Automation) in Beijing and her master’s degree (Digital Humanities) in Boston. For the next 3,5 years she will be part of our team and work within the research cluster CRC 1475 „Metaphors of Religion“, which is under direction of Prof. Dr. Tatjana Scheffler and Prof. Dr. Frederik Elwert (CERES). One focus of her work will be the development of computational methods for the analysis of metaphors in contemporary, colloquial communication of religious lay people in online forums. She will work on interpreting religious metaphors automatically, including aspects such as intertextuality as well as different modalities.
